"Without a doubt, Roy Zimmerman is among the most important political commentators of the last few decades, and in the end, it's the music that unites and disarms. With music this good and humor this insightful, there is good reason to be optimistic." - No Depression

Live From the Starving Ear DVD - $20

Live From the Starving Ear

"Roy Zimmerman - Live From the Starving Ear" is an 80-minute live performance DVD shot in front of a packed house at McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica. It was a great show, and I'm happy to have captured many of my "classics" - 17 songs in all:

This Machine | Vote Republican | End of the Ship | To Be a Liberal | Creation Science 101 | Abstain With Me | I Approve This Message | This Machine (reprise) | Socialist | Singalong Second Amendment | Psychedelic Relic | Chickenhawk | The Last Man | Defenders of Marriage | I Want a Marriage Like They Had in the Bible | Rift Valley Drifters | Hope, Struggle and Change

It's like a Greatest Hits compilation with hand gestures, facial expressions, swigs of water, bits of re-tuning and a lot of laughing. It's also a captured moment in the waning of the Tea Party, the fraying of the Occupy Movement, the hopes, struggles and changes of Progressive America on the eve of Barack Obama's re-election.

We're also happy to offer a 6-pack: six DVDs for the price of five. There's always a holiday coming up. Order now and get "Roy Zimmerman - Live From the Starving Ear" in time for Holiday gift giving.

"One of the funniest, most musical and meaningful comedians you'll ever experience." - Ed Pearl, the Ash Grove

You're Getting Sleepy - $16

You're Getting Sleepy

Look deep into my eyes. Now laugh at the Republicans. Or better yet, listen to these spellbinding new songs. "You're Getting Sleepy" is 11 originals, recorded in the studio, covering an hypnotic blend of subjects: ultra-conservatives, corporate fat cats, religion in government, the inequities of war, and the new American Spring.

"Vote Republican" is a mesmerizing mockery of GOP nonsense in the run-up to the 2012 election (already a hit on YouTube). "Citizens United" is a sensuous slow-jam sneer at corporate personhood. "The Unions Are to Blame" lampoons the Big Business lunacy that has spurred thousands to Occupy Wall Street. There's a theme song for "The Wedding of Church and State" and the hallelujah blow-out of "I Want a Marriage Like They Had in the Bible."

Now here's the post-hypnotic suggestion -- When I count to three and snap my fingers, you'll awake refreshed, ready to "Hope, Struggle and Change."

Vote Republican | I Want a Marriage Like They Had in the Bible | The Unions Are to Blame | To the Victims of This Tragedy We Send Our Thoughts and Prayers | Citizens United | Beer Party Anthem | The Last Man | Mister Bush Sends His Regrets | I'm So Friggin' Country | The Wedding of Church and State | Hope, Struggle and Change

"Zimmerman is a guy on the left skewering folks on the right with rapier-sharp lyrics ... underneath the caustic satire is a man who is surprisingly optimistic." -- Sing Out!

Real American - $16

Real American

If you're one of them grass-roots protesters who hates socialism and just wants his country back, "Real American" is the magnifying glass burning a hole in your forehead.

Ten new original songs (plus a bonus track!) for these hopey-changey times. "This Machine" is Roy's frenetic, banjo-driven mission statement. "Real America" is his happy, stride-style evocation of the Tea Party's Fantasyland. "Rift Valley Drifters" rides off into the sunset, Kenyan birth certificate in hand. Roy takes on Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, gun-crazed loners, senior center stoners, even Martian infidels. And the ebullient 60's-pop "Summer of Loving" is sure to set all 90 toes a-tapping as the US Supreme Court overturns California's Proposition 8.

Tracks: This Machine | Summer of Loving | tea party people | Real America | Buddy, Can You Spare a Trillion Dollars? | End of the Ship | Socialist! | The Orange County Rolling Acres Senior Center Cannabis Club | Singalong Second Amendment | right wing pundits | Limbaugh (How Low Can You Go?) | town hall | Rift Valley Drifters | Christmas on Mars

"You're brilliant. Just brilliant!" -- Terry Jones, Monty Python

Thanks for the Support - $16

Thanks for the Support

The satirical soundtrack for Roy's fifty-state campaign. A collection of twelve fiercely funny songs about the absurdities of the 2008 election season, all recorded live. There's a song for the Republican nominee, "The Man, the Myth, the McCain," an Obama song sung to a tune by Mozart, "Eine Kleine Barackmusik" and the headline that screamed for a melody, "Ted Haggard Is Completely Heterosexual." One song imagines a romantic encounter between George Bush and the nation of Iraq. "I'll Pull Out," he promises. The title track is Roy's heartbreaking take on those "Support Our Troops" bumper stickers, and what that support must feel like to one of those troops. The CD starts with the words, "A message of hope from the great Bay Area..." and ends with the words, "...I am" - a de facto statement of Roy's purpose in creating "Thanks for the Support" and taking it to every corner of this country.

Tracks: To Be a Liberal | I'll Pull Out | Don't Make Fun of the Crippled Boy | Thanks for the Support | Ted Haggard is Completely Heterosexual | Dear Number 1036924053887 | Is America Ready? | Eine Kleine Barackmusik | Burn Goody Clinton! | Superdelegate | The Man, the Myth, the McCain | I Approve This Message

Faulty Intelligence - $16

Faulty Intelligence

The catch-all phrase for the Bush years. These fifteen tuneful lampoons take on the neo-con nitwits and evangelical nutcases whose "Faulty Intelligence" has led us to war in Iraq and inflamed the Culture and Class Wars. Highlights include a lesson in "Creation Science 101," the bawk-along "Chickenhawk" and a plaintive plea to "Abstain With Me." Also, new recordings of Zimmerman classics, "My Conservative Girlfriend" and "Defenders of Marriage."

Tracks: Hello, NSA | Chickenhawk | Glory Bound Train #1 | That Is the War on Terror | Creation Science 101 | Abstain With Me | Defenders of Marriage | Glory Bound Train #2 | Intelligent Design | CIDIATFBI | My Conservative Girlfriend | Ingles | When the Saints Go Marching In to New Orleans | Glory Bound Train #3 | America

Bonus Tracks: Saddam Shame | Turn Off The Hubble | Glory Bound Train (full song)

You know, I receive quite a few CDs each week, in the mail, in person, in the neighbors' garbage... but I rarely tear one open with gleeful abandon, drop everything I'm doing, and blast the damn thing while dancing around in my pajamas, screaming, "Yeah, man, YEAH! You really listen! The bock stops here! That is the war on terror! Glory Bound Train parts 1, 2, and 3!!!! YESSSSSS!!!!" THIS is the war on terror! Can't wait to air ALL of this!

-- Steve Goodie, "On The Contrary,"

Vote Republican - a fifty-state musical odyssey DVD - $25

Live From the Starving Ear

A seamless musical odyssey through the 2012 American political landscape, a labor of love for a progressive nation, an amazing compendium of beautiful American scenery and Republican absurdity. This is "Vote Republican," Roy's new hour-long documentary DVD.

Roy did over 100 shows in 49 states in 2012, traveling with his wife and co-writer Melanie Harby. The wrote and videotaped a new verse to their song "Vote Republican" in every state they visited - plus a verse from Washington, DC and a faux aloha from Hawaii - and posted all 51 videos, one at a time, on YouTube.

This film weaves it all together with new music and footage from all along the ribbon of highway and into the endless skyway.

The DVD is $25 - that's just 50 cents a state. Order "Vote Republican - a fifty-state musical odyssey" now for immediate shipment.

"Roy Zimmerman has such a solid track record poking fun at Republicans and right-wing assholes in general that we're happy to let him claim the satirist sobriquet. There may be an element of preaching to the choir to what he does, but a good hoot is worth more than the illusion of balance." - Time Out Chicago

Best of The Foremen - $16

Thanks for the Support

Folk music had its day in the sun. But it got all blotchy and had to go back underground. In the meantime, Roy Zimmerman created The Foremen and brought to the Nineties what Folk Era groups like The Limeliters and The Kingston Trio brought to the early Sixties: twangling instruments, knife-edged four-part harmonies and biting, hilarious satire.

"Best of The Foremen" is 16 cuts culled from the long out of print Metaphor Records releases "Folk Heroes" and "Sing It Loud!" and featuring a special bonus section of long lost gems from the archives.

I Been Singin' l Bug Bites l Song of Many Deaths l Workin' on an MBA l Building for the Future l A-Whalin' l Peace is Out l Lazin' in the Shade l California Couldn't Pay Our Education l Godzilla Has a Midlife Crisis l Hell Froze Over Today l No Shoes l Do the Clinton l Don’t Pity Me l Ain't No Liberal l Michael l Lenny Hudbutter Intro l Jeeter l Shh...It Happens l My Home Town l The Greatest Los Angeles Disaster of Them All l Firing the Surgeon General l The Water Is Wide

"Friends, this is a very weird group." - Oliver North

Rather often, people tell me, "Thank you for what you're doing." I love writing and singing these songs, especially during an election year. Political sensitivities are so acute this year that some people break into a rash at the sound of Wolf Blitzer's voice. It's always great to hear that the songs are doing good work.

We talk often of "keeping the wheels of satire on the road" and some people ask how they can help. So we've set up these "Donation" buttons. If you're so inclined, you can help keep these wheels rolling by donating $25 or $100 or more. Thank you so much.
