    The last man to die in Afghanistan

I never was one of the lucky ones
But I’m the one they chose over their own sons
To be the final guy to die forsakenly
When they finally figure out we’ve been there mistakenly

Did we conquer that country
Like the Russians overthrew ‘em?
Like the British, and the Mongols
Got their asses handed to ‘em?

Did we bring them democracy?
Well, our guy got elected
When the votes were tabulated
Duplicated and corrected

And isn’t that worth it?

Her dad was the last man to die in ‘Nam

I’ve heard them say freedom isn’t free
Someone’s got to pay and, well, they chose me
To be the last example of tough diplomacy
The last casket folks back in Oklahoma see
